What’s better – Facebook ads or post boosting?

It’s a question we get asked a lot, should I boost or create an ad?
It’s fairly simple to answer and it depends on what you want to achieve.

First though, let’s look at what boosting is.

Facebook Boosting

Like most of Facebook’s advertising, boosting a post if inexpensive and can have a great impact on the reach of your post.

Put simply, once you have create a post and made it live of Facebook, you can then pay Facebook to boost the post. The result is rather than the 3% or less of your followers who may see your post organically, boosting will dramatically increase the audience size by showing your post in more news feeds.

A couple of things about boosting posts. You cannot edit the post once it’s boosted, and you cannot include a call to action button.

If you are looking for likes and shares, boosting is the way to go.

Facebook Ads

Ads on Facebook are much more powerful and precise than boosting posts.

There are various ways to advertise using images, videos, carousels, slides etc. They also allow you to include call to action buttons, such as Learn More, Subscribe, Shop Now, Call Now etc.

Facebook ads also allows you to create an ad from scratch. As I said before you cannot edit a boosted post, however you can edit an ad until you have it exactly how you wish.

Ads also allows you greater control over what results for want o achieve for your money, cost per click, per view or impression and so on.

There is much more Facebook ads can be used for, remarketing, managing social groups or events, publicising sales, openings, jobs etc. The uses really are endless.
